Meet Pat! He’s one of my favorite people to work out with at the gym. I love to ride the stationary bike next to him. He always has the best stories and advice about life. He’s like my super, in-shape Grandpa, who is always excited to see me and always encourages me to get moving. He works out for two and a half hours everyday, and so does his beautiful and in-shape wife. He does it because he loves his body and wants it to work properly for a long time. He is almost 70 years young and has a grandson graduating from high school this Spring and can still keep up with him on the ski slopes! I want to still be hitting the gym when I’m his age, just to show old people everywhere that staying fit and active is so much fun!
This week on the podcast, I talked about having the right attitude around exercise. I encouraged you to stop working out to punish yourself and start working out because you love your body and want it to continue working the way it was intended to. I also gave you some tips on how to create a great environment at your gym. Make some new friends, you can do it. Step out of your comfort zone and smile at someone, compliment their workout clothes or hair, ask someone about their workout program. You got this!
This is a picture of some of my gym buddies. They are so inspiring and so much fun to see at the gym every morning. You can see why I love going to my gym! These ladies make working out a priority and you can tell by the way they look and feel. There’s nothing better for your mind and body than those endorphins that get released when you exercise. When life gets busy and stressful, as it does for all of us sometimes, get moving and let the natural high created by your brain lift your spirits! Make some friends at the gym who will get excited when you get to the gym to exercise. Do it for yourself and your family. Look at those smiles! What a fantastic way to start the day 🙂
