Red Cinnamon Apples with Tiny Pork Sausages

Mini pork sausages served alongside warm red apples stewed with cinnamon—sweet, spicy, and savory in one comforting side or breakfast.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar 1/2 cup water
  • 1/3 cup cinnamon red hot candies 6 apples, peeled and cored
  • 18 small pork link sausages

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  2. In a pot, boil the sugar, water, and cinnamon red hot candies 5 minutes or until sugar is dissolved and candies are melted. Place apples in the syrup, and continue cooking 5 minutes.
  3. Place the sausage links in a skillet over medium heat, and cook until evenly brown.
  4. Arrange apples on a baking sheet. Place three sausages in the center of each apple. Drizzle apples with remaining syrup.
  5. Bake 25 minutes in the preheated oven, or until apples are tender.
